HOMESCHOOL TEACHERS:

School Daze is a free earth science educational program sponsored by the Houston Gem and Mineral Society during our annual show. Submit your official registration form for the HGMS School Daze program by November 1, 2010.

WHEN:     FRIDAY, November 12, 2010

WHERE:    HUMBLE CIVIC CENTER

TIME:         9 a.m.–6 p.m.

YOUR STUDENTS WILL:

• Receive a polished stone FREE at the Scavenger Hunt exit.
• Participate in an age-appropriate scavenger hunt.
• Enjoy a Mad Science chemistry demonstration.
• Participate in a Dino-Dig.
• See life-sized dinosaur models and ask questions of a dinosaur expert.
• Watch as dinosaurs are sculpted into life-like reproductions.
• Watch faceters turn raw stones into dazzling gems.
• See jewelry made and see an appraiser identify gemstones.
• See a fluorescent mineral display.
• See collections of minerals and fossils and have experts identify them.

HOMESCHOOL TEACHERS RECEIVE:

• Multidisciplinary earth science activities.
• A scavenger hunt for each student to complete during the show.
• Continuing earth science reinforcement lessons on our Web site.
• FREE admission into the show if preregistered. (One parent per household, please.)
• An HGMS Show Mineral or Fossil Kit for groups with 25 or more stufdents (K-12) completing scavenger hunts. Choose from the following four collections:
