HGMS Outreach at HMNS
by Karen Burns
Updated 01/09/2008

HGMS is looking for members interested in doing outreach for the club at HMNS. We are looking for people who can demonstrate cabbing on the club's Genie by the dinosaur exhibit and will encourage museum patrons to become club members.

We are also looking for paleo people to describe fossils from Texas and other locations and for lapidary people willing to demonstrate jewelry-making techniques. Expect to speak to 100-200 musuem patrons on a weekday and to 150-300 on a weekend.

Are you interested in anthropology or exotic foreign places? It doesn't get much more exotic than Ethiopia, Early man, and Arc of the Covenant! Listed below are materials prepared by Dr. von Tourenhout on the whole exhibit and by Neal Immega about the specifics of early man. Look at the material and come to the show. If you are interested in being a docent and in explaining the exhibit to the public, then see Neal Immega to get set up.

Becoming a Floor Demonstrator is easy and rewarding. You have free admission to the museum and most special exhibits. There's free parking in the museum garage while you are demonstrating, and after 40 hours of volunteering, you get a discount at the gift store.

Talk to Neal Immega, Karen Burns, or Stan Perkins to find out more about this opportunity to promote HGMS.
