HGMS Archaeology Section

What is the Archaeology Section?

The Archaeology Section meets at 7:30 p.m. the first Thursday of each month, and they delve into a number of areas involving human existence and the forebears of modern humans.  This includes some anthropology outside archaeology as well as some paleontology. Many of the Archaeology Section members are also Paleontology Section members.

Every month the AS Vice-Chairman picks an archaeological subject, area, or thing of interest and notifies all HGMS members who have attended a meeting or a field trip via an e-mail with links to information on the next AS meeting topic. That allows members to do their homework before the meeting and bring in information, pictures, artifacts, or other things on that topic to discuss or present for Show & Tell. Usually there are from 12 to 20 HGMS members in attendance for each AS meeting. Several members regularly bring very interesting archaeological artifacts to show.
